Memorial services for Mr. Cecil Agent Jr, 91, of Lufkin will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Mr. Agent was born on December 1, 1930, and died on Wednesday, December 29,2021, at his residence. Cremation is under the direction of Colonial Mortuary. On December 1st, 1930, in the small town of Brenham, Texas their population grew when a baby boy was born to Cecil C. Agent, Sr. and Effie Olivia {Evans} Agent of whom they affectionately named Cecil Celester Agent, Jr. After the death of his father when he was two, he and his mother moved to Houston and Galveston where she worked as a Nurse at John Sealey Hospital. They united with Avenue L. Baptist Church where she met and married a young minister and Superintendent of the Sunday School Rev. Julius Thomas Groves, Sr. After receiving scholarships, the parents moved to Crockett, Texas to attend Mary Allen College and to pastor. Cecil entered the Crockett Schools where he was a member of the school band and graduated from Old Crockett High School Class of 1949. He was employed by Langoes Mill until entering the military where he actively served for over twenty years and did three tours in Germany. He met a very beautiful young lady named Lois of whom he fell in love with and married and remained for sixty-eight years until death did them past in 2018. After an honorable discharge he, his wife, and children moved to Lufkin, Texas where they served as foster parents for many years. He worked and retired from Lufkin Industries. He and his wife united with the First Baptist Church under the pastorage of the Reverend J.D. Simmons where he taught Sunday School along with his wife and both assisted in the culinary department until her health impaired her. He faithfully took care of his wife until her death in 2018. He remained loving her until he departed this world on Wednesday morning, December 29, 2021. Together again joined by all of their family members who went ahead of them. He was proceeded in death by his wife: Mrs. Lois M. Agent, Son: Alvin Agent, Parents: Cecil. C. Agent, Sr., Rev. Julius T. & Mrs. Effie Olivia Evans Groves, Grandparents: Mr. James Lee Evans & Mrs. Hattie Eunice Olivia Evans Johnson, Brother: Mr. Leroy Groves, Sister: Mrs. Velma Groves August, Father- in -law: Mr. Purvin Hill, He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy his devoted daughter, Mary Elaine Agent, son: Winnell Agent, Grandchildren: Terrance Agent {Sheba), Wesley Agent {Carmesha,) Grandchildren: {3} large number of foster children, Sister: Apostolic Bishop Eunice Olivia Groves Hightower, Ralph Hightower, Brother: Mr. Julius T. Groves, Jr. {Sandra}, Adopted Sister: Mrs. Arzell Robbins, Mother-in-love: Mrs. Edie Hill, Sister-in-love: Mrs. Ruth E. Williams {Joel}, Brother-in-love: Mr. Eddie Hill, Nephews: Ralph Hightower {Tasha} Maurice Hightower {Sylvia},Terrell Taylor {Shallon} Julius T. Groves, Ill. Reginald Groves, Darrell Groves Nieces: Denerica Hightower Dunlap, Monica Hightower Perkins {John}, Autricia Taylor {Willie}, Chante Williams, Brenda August Sneed and Latonya August. Great Nieces, nephews, and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, fellow classmate, his Pastor and the First Baptist Church family.
