Services for Gracy Lene Madison, 75, of Lufkin will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the Church by Christ Jesus. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Madison was born on February 21, 1947, in Groveton, and died Thursday, March 17, 2022, in Lufkin. Mrs. Gracy Lene Madison was born in the Groveton, Pennington Community on February 21, 1947, to the late Alverta Mae Sweat and William Richard Davis. Gracy became a member of the Church of the Living God in Groveton, Texas at an early age. She later united with Noble Temple COGIC under the leadership of the late Superintendent Noble Cooper. Gracy became a member of God's Prayer Revival Center in Lufkin, Texas under the leadership of Evangelist Bessie Everidge. She later became a member of the Gospel Lighthouse COGIC of Kennard, Texas, under the leadership of Superintendent Haywood Henderson Jr. She was presently under the leadership of Bishop Cleo Hale at Outreach Ministries of Lufkin, Texas. She was always faithful and worked in the church on whatever her hands found to do. She was a willing worker for the Lord. She also was a devoted Phone Ministry to many, and very dedicated to writing and sending cards to inmates and to anyone who needed encouragement along the way. Gracy united in marriage to James Madison, and born to this union were a daughter and four sons. She had been employed at Lufkin Memorial Hospital of Lufkin, Texas, where she worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant for many years. She also worked in the Labor and Delivery Calder Il and the Specialty Unit. Gracy earned the title of lead CNA in the 1960s and was laid off returning later retiring in 2003. Left to cherish her memories: A daughter, Shelia (Ronald Murphy Sr.); Sons, Christopher (Denise) Madison, Kelvin (Barbara Lene) Madison of Lufkin, Texas; Minister Lamond (Diane) Madison of Huntington, Texas Minister Tyson (Shawanda) Madison of Nacogdoches, Texas; Brothers, Willie D. Davis and Joseph U. Davis of Lufkin, Texas and Paul E. Davis of Snellville, Georgia. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Special friends, Mama Gracy Mother in the Lord; Special friend, Missionary Mollie Lewis; Special son, James Paige. Gracy is preceded in death by her parents, Alverta Davis and William R. Davis; 3 sisters, a brother, and a child.
