Funeral services for Marilyn (Davis) Banks, 68 of Lufkin will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 14, 2021, in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Banks was born on January 14, 1953, in Lufkin, and died Sunday, August 8, 2021, in Dallas, TX. Mrs. Marilyn J. Banks " Tinkie " was born January 14, 1953, to the late Ozell Hood Davis and Willie A. Davis in Lufkin, Texas. She accepted Christ at a young age and was a longtime member of Progressive Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. After graduating from Emmett Scott High School Marilyn met and married Jimmie Lee Banks of Tyler, Texas and from that union, three daughters were born. She chose to further her education and graduated from Tyler Junior College with a degree in nursing in 1983. Marilyn worked in a variety of hospitals and specialties over her 35-year career as a nurse until she retired in 2019. On August 8, 2021, Marilyn departed this earthly life in Dallas, Texas surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren. Marilyn is preceded in death by both parents Ozell and Willie Davis; sister, Annie L. Davis; brothers, Thomas Davis and Donald Davis; and a niece, Alvina Marie Henry. Left in Go&s care and to cherish her memory are daughters, Tracee Banks, Donna (Eric) Leonard, Willie (Tyson) Ratliff. Sisters, Willie Marie Meals and Ruth (Eddie) Jenkins and brother, Ronald Davis. Six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, great-nieces & nephews, cousins, and extended family. .
