Willie Holman

Funeral services for Willie Holman, 95, of Corrigan, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, in Corrigan. Burial will follow in the Lilly Island, Camden. Mrs. Holman was born on May 30, 1926, in Camden, and died on Friday, January 15, 2022, in Lufkin. Willie Lee (Mullen) Holman, was born on May 30, 1926, to the proud parentage of the late Hazel (King) Mullen and Willie Lee Mullen in Corrigan. Texas. She was the second child of four children. She attended public school in Corrigan, Texas and graduated from W.W. Johnson High School. After relocating to Camden, Texas, she was introduced to and married the late Roosevelt Spears. To this union seven children were born. They remained united until his death. She later married Mr. John Washington with the marriage lasting until his death. To this union three children were born. Later in life Willie married Mason Holman and their baby boy was born. She was a mother of a total of thirteen children. Mrs. Holman was a homemaker and domestic worker. She and her best friend, Creola Woods would visit the sick and shut in, cleaning their homes, and doing whatever work they could do to be helpful to the community. "Madea," as many of her family members referred to her as, was of Baptist faith and could be heard singing, "I will trust in the Lord," as her health began to fail. On January 15, 2022, Mrs. Willie Lee (Mullen) Holman made her transition from this Earthly Home to her Eternal Home. Mrs. Holman leaves to cherish her memories: Eight of her children, Lois Ray Spears of Beaverton, Oregon, Dorothy Martin, Ruby Qualls, and Shirley (Louis) Fields all of Corrigan, Texas, Patricia Washington of Diboll, Texas, Sons, Robert Spears of Fayetteville, N. Carolina, John Spears of Diboll, Texas, Undra Holman (Tonja)of Corrigan, Texas; A sister, Alice Ferguson of Las Vegas, Nevada; Thirty two grandchildren; Eighty five great-grandchildren; Thirty one great-great-grandchildren. Special and extended family: the Woods Family, Jones Family and the Horn Family. One Special God Given daughter, Wanda Baldwin; Special friend, Claudette Shoemaker; Two stepchildren, Danny and Craig Holman; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by: her parents, Hazel and Willie Mullin; A sister, Letha Jefferson; four children, Johnnie Spears, Donald Spears, Roosevelt Spears, Linda Washington; Three grandchildren, Derrick Qualls, Tina Martin, Sandra King; Two great-grandchildren, Paisley McQueen, Clifford Martin; Now in Heaven Mrs. Artholia, Mrs. Bernice, Mrs. Creola, Mrs. Audrey and Mrs. Gwen Freeman on the phone somewhere catching up. Madea, we love you and will greatly miss you.
