Aaron Garner's Obituary
Funeral service for Aaron Garner, 74 of Lufkin is scheduled for 11a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Scarborough Street, Lufkin. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Garden. Mr. Garner was born on February 11,1950, in Chireno, Nacogdoches, and died on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in Lufkin. Aaron Garner was born on February 11, 1950, in Cherino, Texas, to the late Mack and Ovelia Garner.
Aaron received his formal education from the Lufkin Independent Public Schools. He attended Garrett Elementary and Dunbar High School. He joined the Job Corp, later entering into the United States Marine Corps, where he was a Rifle Sharpshooter and Marksman. While in the Marine Corps, he was the instructor of the Gun Range. Aaron was discharged from the Marine Corps with an Honorable Discharge. His employment had been with Lufkin Industries from which he retired and met the love of his life Janie Garner. They were married and to this union five girls and four boys were born. Aaron had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren which he dearly loved.
Aaron and Janie were partners in everything that they did, from winning first place in the Lufkin Industries Fishing Tournaments, to going to the Casino. He was always a winner and was the best father a child could ever ask for in life. His love was unconditional and consistent. In the eyes of his family, he was the best blessing that we could have been blessed with.
On February 29, 2024, Aaron Garner made his transition from this Earthly Life to his Heavenly Home.

His sons, Tonie (Crystal) Anders, Gerald (Robin) Mott, Patrick (Carla) Mott and Melvin Sawyer; His daughters, Belinda (Edward) Wilson, Brenda (Lionel) Whitaker, Nikkie (Dewayne) Teal, Felice (Steve) Johnson; Sisters, Yverne Cox, Victoria Montgomery, Bettye Cox, Creola Austin and Ovelia Coleman; First special grandson, Christopher Mott (AKA Cat Daddy); Twenty-Four grandchildren and a wealth of great-grandchildren; Special granddaughter, Jazzman Willis.
Aaron is preceded in death by: His wife, Janie Garner; Parents, Mack and Ovelia Garner; Brothers, Sylvester and Dennis Garner, and a sister, Dixie Jones.
