Services for Augusta Jones, 82, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m.at
Colonial Mortuary.
Augusta Jones, Sr. affectionately called "Red Cap," was born to the parentage of the late Willie D. Jones Sr. And Rose Lee Jones on March 13, 1936 in Diboll, Texas.
Augusta was reared in Diboll, Texas receiving his formal education from the Diboll Independent School District, graduating from Diboll High School. Later in life, Augusta relocated to Lufkin, Texas and was employed by Lufkin Industries from which he retired. He loved watching sports on television and in his early years was an avid baseball player. He was so good at baseball, that he was given the nickname of "Red Cap."
Augusta Jones Sr. departed this life on July 6, 2018 in Lufkin, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie D. And Rosie Jones; Five brothers, Willie Jr., J.C., Eddie, Charles and Jerry; A daughter, Pamela.
Left to cherish his memories: A daughter Sheila Jones of Houston, Texas; A son, Augusta Jones, Jr. (Opal) of Lufkin, Texas; Grandchildren, Roderick Jones (La'Cynthia), Arlon Bogan (Kendrick) of Houston, Texas, La'Broderick Tillis, Brandon, Jacob Jones, Lufkin, Texas; Great-Grandchildren, Sa"Niya Jones, Ka'Miya King, Jahmari Tillis; Sister, Shirley White of Lufkin, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
