Ayanna Hamilton's Obituary
Services for Mrs. Ayanna Hamilton 46, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Garden. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Mortuary.
Ayanna Monique Fray-Hamilton was born on July 20, 1975, in Odessa, Texas. The first of three children born to Michael and Pamela Fray.
She was married to Khristopher Hamilton and had no children. She was an adored daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and a dedicated educator. Ayanna attended Waco High School and was inducted into the Honor Society graduating with Honors. After graduating, she attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She received her Master's Degree from Walden University and was in the process of pursuing her Ph.D.
Ayanna began her career in the Lufkin Independent School District as a second-grade teacher at Primary School. She later became the Assistant Principal. She developed a very special relationship with the Trout Family and within the district. She had a unique way of communicating with her students by demonstrating kindness, passion, and care. She was loved and respected by her students and District Family and truly will be missed. Besides quality time with family and friends, Ayanna loved writing, reading, cooking, and traveling. Her relationship with her family was loving, moving, exceptional, and complex. She had a profound impact on her nieces and nephew. Ayanna loved God, and she believed in Jesus Christ. She touched many lives with generosity, strength, and passion for life.
Ayanna is survived by: Her husband, Khristopher Hamilton; Parents, Michael and Pamela Fray; Brother, Tafari Fray, and his wife, Maria Fray; Sister, Hadia Miller along with nieces and a nephew; Numerous other extended family and friends.
