Service for Barbara Criner, 68 of is scheduled for 12 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Eastside Baptist Church, 400 Academy St Rusk, TX 75785. Burial will follow in the Memorial Cemetery, Rusk Texas. Mrs. Criner was born on June 24, 1954, in Jacksonville, Tx and died on Thursday, March 30, 2023,
Barbara was the first born child to Mary Price Irving and William Nelson, on June 24, 1954.
She was raised into adulthood in the Elm Grove Community, until moving to Lufkin, Texas with her husband and children in 1988. She graduated from Rusk High School and attended Tyler Junior College. Barbara worked at Head Start for twelve years in Rusk, Texas. She was a Paraprofessional for the Lufkin Independent School District for thirty two years until her retirement in 2020. Barbara was a loving wife to Aubrey Criner for forty six years, and proud mother of four children.
She began her Christian journey at Mt. Mariah Plainview in Elm Grove and continued at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas. Barbara's greatest love was her family. She spent countless hours speaking life into loving and caring for her husband and children. Any conversation led to how proud she was of her "babies," showing pictures and sharing stories. She was a dedicated Caregiver of her parents. Her spirit was kind and loving and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by: Her son, Ahmad; Mother and stepfather, Mary and Henry Irving and father, William Nelson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her husband, Aubrey of Lufkin, Texas; Son, Rashaud of Houston, Texas; Daughter, Venisha of Houston; Son, Jamoria (Tiffany) of Dallas, Texas; Sister, Janice Lambert of Tyler, Texas; five grandchildren, JaMya, Brooklyn, Ariyah, Jaceion and Taelyn; Great-Grandchild, JaLayah as well as nieces and nephews; Aunts, Gloria F. Cannon of Dallas, Texas, Myra M. Session (O'Neal) of Houston, Texas, Myra's daughter, Joy Session of Dallas, Texas, Aunt Ruby Jean Barnett of Dallas, Texas, Aunt Ernestine Cherry of Dallas, Texas; Uncle, Joe Nelson of Rusk, Texas; Sister-in-law, Willow Jenkins of Rusk and a host of cousins
