Services for Barbara L. Jones, 74, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Missionary Baptist Church , 410 Scarborough. Burial will follow in the Forest Haven Cemetery in Diboll. Mrs. Barbara Jones was born March 18, 1949 in Lufkin, TX., and died August 3, 2023 in Tyler, TX.
Barbara Lois Gipson-Jones, was born on March 18, 1949 in Lufkin, Texas, to the parentage of the late Beulah Gipson and Jake Taylor.
Barbara affectionately called "Vickie," attended H.G. Temple High School in Diboll Texas, and graduated with the Class of 1967. Barbara was a member of the Ladies Basketball Team at H. G. Temple High School. She later married Bobby Dean Jones and to this union two children were born: Bobby Dean Jr. (Dino) who preceded them in death, and Barbara Nadine Jones. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Lufkin for many years, and she loved her Church family. Barbara had been employed by the Lufkin State School from which she retired after 31 years of employment.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Beulah Goff, Calhoun; Father, Jake Taylor; Stepfather, Roger Goff; Husband, Bobby Dean Jones; Son, Bobby Dean Jones, Jr.; Sister, Mavis Jacobs.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Her daughter, Barbara Nadine Jones; Three grandchildren,
Kendrick Jones (Chuckie), Kendall Jones, and Amirah Barlow; Sisters, Patricia Thomas (Lee) of
Port Arthur; Beverly Quinney of Lufkin, Texas, Evelyn Taylor and Vivian Lewis of Diboll, Texas; Brothers, Roger Lynn Goff of Memphis, Tennessee; Ronald Goff, Robert Taylor (Yvette); Kenneth Taylor of Lufkin, Texas and Don Juan Taylor of Houston, Texas; Sisters-in-love, Dorothy Teal, Carlon Moses (Charles), Sloane Hodge all of Diboll, Texas, Beverly Jo Gordon (Wayne) of Spring, Texas; Connie Jones of Houston, Texas; A wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
