Bettye L. Davis-Proctor, was born on April 25, 1943, to the late Earlie and Versie Lee Brown-Davis.
Bettye was raised and attended school in Upshur County in Gilmer, Texas. She married Charles Lee Proctor, and is a mother of eight with seven surviving children. Though she resided in several areas in Texas, and spent a brief span in California, she returned home to Lufkin, Texas where she spent her final days. Her trade of choice was hospitality and garment shaper and she was the best at both. She also was an excellent cook and enjoyed reading, dancing, crocheting, writing, coloring, playing assorted games and most of all being a mother and grandmother. Bettye was a member of Eastside Church of God In Christ, under the guidance of Elder Cleveland Payne.
She is preceded in death by her parents and eldest son, Kenneth Earl Buchanan; Siblings, Vernon, John Edward and Christine Davis; A host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Her loving husband, Charles Lee Proctor, Sr.; Seven children, Leshi Buchanan, Antonio Buchanan (Rhonda), LaWanda (Joi) Oates, Charles Proctor, Jr. (Vermika) Charlotta Proctor, Carla Smith (Keith) and Angela Jackson (Latisha). She has twenty one grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, many other loving family members and life long friends.
Cremation under the direction of Colonial Mortuary.
