Billie (Hunt) Okallo's Obituary
Service for Billie Okallo, 60 of Longview will be scheduled at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Colonial Mortuary. Burial will follow at the St. John Cemetery in San Augustine. Ms. Okallo was born on October 11, 1962, in Lufkin and died on Friday, March 24, 2023, in Longview. Visitation is Friday from 7 till 9:00 p.m at Colonial Mortuary.
Billie Jean Hunt was born on October 11, 1962, to Billy Hunt and Ruthie Lee Dove in Lufkin, Texas. Billie Jean was raised in Lufkin until the death of her mother. Billie moved to Dallas with her sister, Georgia Crain. Billie Jean graduated from Kimball High School in 1980.
While in Dallas, Billie Jean met and married Joshua Okallo and from this union Joshua Lumumba and Mya Monique Okallo were born. Billie returned back to Lufkin where she resided until she moved to Longview, Texas in 2020.
Billie Jean was known for cooking, being a social butterfly, and the love she had for her children and grandchildren. Billie was loved by her nephews and nieces.
Billie Jean is preceded in death by her parents Billy Hunt and Ruthie
Dove; her brothers J.C Cartwright, James "Jack" Cartwright, Elsie "Monkey" Dove, and Eddie B. Dove; her sisters, Janice Johnson, Mary Dove, and Ruth Horace.
Those left to cherish her precious memory are her children, Joshua L. Okallo (Monique), and Mya M. Okallo, grandson, Quentin Demond Whitmill; granddaughters, Meyala Unique Jones, Yazmyne Ciara Whitmill, Alexcia MaKayla Whitmill, Miriam Robin Okallo, Eleanor Wren Okallo, and Daphne Lark Okallo; brothers Edwin Glen Hunt, Larry Darnell Hunt (Modesta), Melvin Dwayne Hunt (Shaun) and Marcus Brown; sisters Georgia Crain (Travis), Dorinda Michele Jackson (Charlie) and Roslyn McKelvey and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
