Services for Birdie O. Charlton, 92, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the New Center Prospect Cemetery. Visitation will be
Sunday from 1:00 p.m. till time of services.
Mrs. Birdie Ola Preston Charlton, was born to the parentage of the late J.W."Bud" Preston and Addie Lue Washington Preston in Pollock, Texas on March 29, 1927.
Mrs. Charlton attended Dunbar High School in Lufkin, Texas and Phyllis Wheatley High School in Houston, Texas. She was a faithful member of the Memorial Chapel Church in the Cedar Grove Community. She attended until her began to fail her. Mrs. Charlton had been joined in Holy Matrimony to Lee Edward Charlton for over sixty years. The marriage lasted until his demise. Her livelihood also consisted ofher many hobbies: She was an avid Homemaker who loved knitting, sewing, cooking, and taking care of others. Mrs. Charlton was known as the Pillar of the Pollock and Cedar Grove Community, and was respected by all. She will be greatly missed by her family and dear friends.
On November 4, 2019, Mrs. Birdie Ola Preston-Charlton made her transition from this earthly life to her Heavenly Home.

Her son, Kenneth Charlton (Althea) of Houston, Texas; Grandchildren, Desmond, Telikia, Shalonda, Dionne, Rhonda, Michael and Ronnie Jr.; She is also survived by a wealth ofgreat-grandchildren and manygreat-great-grandchildren; Siblings, Clyde Preston and Johnny Preston of Sanleandro, California; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousin, and extended family and friends.
Mrs. Charlton was preceded in death by: her husband, Lee Edward Charlton; A daughter, Patricia Charlton-Smith; Sons, Darrell Charlton and Ronnie Charlton; Ten of her siblings.
