Calvin Spencer Jr.'s Obituary
Funeral services for Sgt. Major Calvn Spencer Jr. are scheduled for Saturday at 1 :00 p.m. at Our Father's House Faith of Ministries, 518 S. First Street, Lufkin, Texas. Reverend Richard Griffin will be the Eulogist and Pastor Andro Branch will officiate. Interment will follow in the Nigton Memorial Park Cemetery.Visitation will be on Friday in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Rev. Spencer was born on July 9, 1942 in Nigton and died on July 28, 2018 in Lufkin. He attended the Nigton and Diboll Public Schools graduating from Diboll Temple High School. He attended Ligon Chapel CME at an early later in life he became the pastor of a Lufkin Church in the Forest Park Area and also pastored Sweet Union Missionary Baptist Church in Madisonville. Calvin had been married to Delores Spencer. He joined the United States Army and retired as Sgt. Major (Command Sgt. Major) after thirty years. He received many decorations, medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons among which included: Army Service Ribbon/National Defense Service MedalW/Bronze Service Star/Overseas Service Ribbon-5Army Achievement Medal/Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC)Meritorious Service
