Funeral services for Charlie B.Simmons,72, of Lufkin will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021, in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. The visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mr. Simmons was born on August 9, 1948, in Pennington and died on March 5, 2021, in Lufkin.
Peacefully at rest at 11:30 a.m. to 11 :45 a.m. at Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin, Texas. Mr. Charlie B. Simmons was born on August 9, 1948. His parents were Esklee and Rosie Simmons from Pennington, Texas in a Community called Fodice, Texas.
He received his education at Fodice Community and graduated in Groveton, Texas. He enlisted in the Army National Guard on January 3, 1969 to December 17, 1970. He had been married to his wife, Margie Porter-Simmons until his demise. After being discharged from the National Guard, May 1 , 1992, he was employed at Texas Foundry in Lufkin, Texas for forty three years. Employment beginning in the year of 1966 retiring on February 19, 2009. He attended West End Pentecostal Church with his wife, Margie Simmons. He was a very good cook, loved to travel, and was a loving father to all of his children, calling faithfully checking on his family and friends. Mr. Simmons helped people whom he could help. He was a very friendly, hard working dedicated father to his children. He will be really truly missed by his family and friends that have known him for a life time.
Left to cherish his memories: His wife, Margie Porter-Simmons; Children, Kevin Simmons, Kendra Simmons, Robert Simmons, Marcus Simmons; Daughters-in-law, Ashley Simmons, Yolanda Porter; Son-in-law, Carl Davis; Four other children, Tavares Porter, Dorsett Porter, Tiffany Simmons and Nicole Davis; Ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; Siblings, one brother, James Earl Simmons Sr.; Three sisters, Nola B. Williams (Charles Williams), Willie Charles (Frank Charles), Carolyn Ann Simmons; A wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
