Services for Cloteal Malone, 83, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 2:00 P.M. in the First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Scarbrough St., Lufkin, TX. Mrs. Malone was born July 1, 1941 in Jamestown, TX. and died November 27, 2024 in Houston, TX. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Mortuary
Mrs. Clotel Malone was born on July I, 1941 in Jamestown, Texas, to Will Bevil and L.S. Owens.
The fourth child of seven siblings, she accepted Christ at an early age, and lived in Jamestown, Texas, for the first eighteen years of her life. She was a graduate of Weirgate High School, and continued her education at Lamar Beauty School in Beaumont, Texas. She later moved to Lufkin, Texas, and trained as a welder. Her Class was one of the first groups of women trained and employed as welders for Lufkin Industries Trailer Division.
Clotel Bevil met Oscar Malone while working for the Lufkin Industries Trailer Division. The two were happily married for over thirty years. She joined the First Missionary Baptist Church, and later became a Deaconess, as her husband Oscar became a Deacon. Mr. Malone was a truck driver and they enjoyed traveling across the country in his truck. Mrs. Malone worked as a welder for Lufkin Trailer Division and after her retirement, began working as a Tax Preparer for Compro Tax.
She is preceded in death by: Her mother, L.S. Owens; Husband, Oscar Malone and a son, Joseph Bevil.
Survivors: Son, Donald Bevil (Sophia); Granddaughters, Joneisha and Octavia
Bevil; Great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Lyric Bevil; Brothers, Bill Wallace (Amy) and Roy Bevil (Cordelia), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
