Services for Deacon Roy Marshall, 81, of Crockett, TX. will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Simpson Chapel Baptist Church in Kennard, TX. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. till time of services
at the church. Burial will follow in the Jasper Cemetery in Crockett, TX.
Obituary
DEACON ROY MARSHALL was born on October 22, 1935 to the late JAMES MARSHALL and SARAH CALHOUN MARSHALL in Crockett, Texas. Deacon Roy Marshall received his formal education in Crockett, Texas (Houston County) where he mastered the trade of an electrician under his high
school instructor, "Mr. Westbrook". He went on to become licensed and bonded in the State of
Texas and shortly after, formed his own business under the name of ROY MARSHALL & SONS ELECTRICAL SERVICE. He worked for Dolly Madison Industries aka (DMI) Furniture Plant for 18 years as a plant supervisor. He later was hired by Nucor Steel Co. (Vulcraft) where he officially retired after 18 years of employment.
Roy accepted Christ and was united with Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He served as Deacon and worked faithfully as a church Trustee until his health began to fail. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend to many who knew him. He was a hard worker and an excellent provider for his family.
DEACON ROY MARSHALL was united in holy matrimony with the love of his life, Mae Bell Marshall on December 17, 1960 in Crockett, Texas (Houston County).
DEACON ROY MARSHALL departed this life on October 4, 2017 at the Winfield Healthcare Facility in Crockett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sis. Mae Bell Marshall; son, Roy Earl Johnson; mother, Sarah Calhoun Marshall; father, James Marshall; sister, Delores Davis. He leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Pastor Ernest L. Jackson, Sr & wife (Imogene) and Minister Reginald D. Marshall, Sr. & wife Dorothy; sister, Ive Lee Campbell & husband (James), brother-in-law, Joe Davis Sr and Sister-in-law, Ms. Margaret Hackett. all of Crockett. A host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces & Nephews also survive.
