Debra Cauley Armstrong's Obituary
Service for Mrs. Debra Cauley Armstrong, 65, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Armstrong was born on October 22, 1956, in Houston, and died on Friday, July 8, 2022, in Houston.
Debra was born on October 22, 1956, in Houston, TX to Preston Cauley Sr. and Lucille Cauley. She was the fifth of ten children.
She spent her early years in Houston before moving to Huntington, TX in 1967. She was an excellent student and graduated at the top of her class from Huntington High School in 1975. Following high school, Debra united in marriage with Lawrence Armstrong on June 7, 1976.
Debra attended college at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. She graduated December 1980 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, Minor in Chemistry. After college, Debra began a career as a Medical Lab Technician at Woodland Heights Medical Center and Quest Labs in
Lufkin, TX. She continued in the same career when she later relocated to Houston.
Debra possessed a personal style that was often reflected through her beautiful fashion sense and in the way she carried herself. She loved people and it made her happy to talk with family and friends about her favorite hobbies which included growing plants and flowers, shopping, exploring new recipes, and cooking. Over the years, Debra was a wonderful pet parent to several fur babies (Her dogs: Madison, Oreo & Tyson). Debra also enjoyed good music and the performing arts. Earlier this year, she was most excited to attend an Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performance in Houston.
Debra was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Armstrong, her parents, Preston Cauley Sr. and Lucille Cauley, brother, Bobby Cauley, sisters, Cynthia Cauley-Wade and Merri Limbrick, niece, Shasity Cauley and nephew, Terrence Wade.
She leaves to cherish her memory: sisters, Gloria Bagley (Lonnie) and Sandra Hunt (Bobby) of Lufkin,
Faye King (Wilber) of Taylor, TX, and Anita Spencer (Melvin) of Louisville, KY; brothers, Preston Cauley Jr. (Cassandra) of Lufkin, TX and Kevin Cauley (Michelle) of Richardson, TX; devoted companion, Dwight Thompson of Houston, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
