Funeral services for Deidre Jones,55, of Lufkin will be held at 11 a.m., in the Ligon Chapel Saturday, November 28, 2020. Burial will follow in the Nigton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. Mrs. Jones was born on February 5, 1965, in Lufkin, and passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, in Lufkin. Deidra L. Jones, was born on February 5, 1965 to Preston Jones Sr., and Jannie Mae Johnson-Jones.
She was a long and faithful member of Ligon Chapel C.M.E. Church where she was baptized at an early age. Deidre was a hard worker, family oriented and was a helpful person because she would help anyone. She had been employed by the Apple Springs Independent School District, Parkwood Place, the Meadows, and Chi St. Luke's until her health failed. She attended Apple Springs Independent School District and Angelina College.
She is preceded in death by: Her Mother-Jannie Mae Johnson-Jones; Daughters, LaTroya Jones-Gillis; Maternal Grandparents, Nettie Mae Johnson and Chester Johnson; Paternal Grandparents, Lonnie Jones, Sr. and Della Mae Jones; Uncles, Jerry Mackel Johnson, Charles Johnson, Sr., George Johnson Sr.; Aunt, Darlene Johnson.
Survivors: Her father, Preston Jones, Sr.; Sons, Michael (Sabrina) and Alexander (Sophia); Daughter, LaKisha; Sisters, Minister Gina Knight (William) and Pastor Cassie Williams (Darrell); Brother, Preston Jr.; Aunts, Mary Johnson, Linda Albro, Sherry Thomas, Melba Maddox, May Jones, Lisa Johnson; Uncles, Jimmy Johnson, Donald Johnson, Sr., Herbert
