The graveside service for Mr. Derrick Harris, 54, of Lufkin, Texas will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. at Davis Memorial Gardens, Lufkin, Texas.
Derrick LaSean Harris was bom to the parentage of Joann and Joe P. Harris in Lufkin, TX. on February 22,
1970.
He spent his early childhood days growing up in Lufkin, TX. He attended Lufkin Public Schools and graduated from Lufkin High in May of 1992.
He later moved to Huntington and resided there for several years. Derrick was always known for his warm outgoing personality. Stra ngers simply diånot exist in his world. Onc%he met you, he never forgot you Maybe your namé but never your face. He was always quick to acknowledge you wherever and whenever he was in your presence. Upon greeting you, he often reminded you that he had prayed for you.
Derrick embraced !iife and lived it to i s fullest irregardless of the challenges he faced. His hobbies included eating, bowling, watching the Dallas Cowboys , listening to all Genres of music, especially gospel, and playing basketball. He also loved cleaning and spending t ime with his family (especially his dad),
Derrick worked for several years at ND! Workshop änd Eucare.
He received water baptism into the faith on November, 2023 by Paster Jason Copes.
He was preceded in death by his mother; Joann Harris; grandmohter Evelyn Johnson; grandfather, Lonnie Johnson; niece, Maya Avery and special aunt, Flossie Williams.
He leaves to grieve his passing his father and step mo, Joe and Cassandra Harris of Lufkin, TX, sisters,
Tonia (Marcus) Jones of-Houston, TX, Chaundria'Stuff" (Octavian) Brown of Orlando, FL; brothers, Michael
White of Dallas, TX, Kerry Harris Of Lufkin, TX and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, aunts;uncles and
relatives.
