Services for Derrick Johnson, 52, of Forney, TX. will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Scarbrough St., Lufkin, TX. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 7:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Mortuary. Mr. Johnson was born January 2, 1965 in Center, TX. and died November 18, 2017 in Forney, TX.
On January 2, 1965, Derrick L. Johnson was born to the late Clarence (Moose) Johnson and Willie McCoy in Center, Texas.
He was a graduate of Lufkin High school,Class of 1984. On March 21, 1993, in Lufkin,Texas Derrick united in matrimony with Sanreaches Tolbert and through this union 2 daughters were born. They then moved to Dallas, Texas in 1996 where he remained until his demise.
He was employed by ArcBest Freight (ABF) on June 21 , 2006 and later became an official driver on July 8, 2013. During his years of driving he received recognition of a commitment to highway safety as a professional truck driver by driving 4 years without accidents. He was loyal and devoted to ABF.
He was proceeded in death by his son, Michael O'Brien Johnson; and his father and mother.
Left to cherish his memories: His wife of 25 years, Sanreaches Johnson; one son, Leaundrae Shepard of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Brittany Martin (Richard) of Arlington, Texas, and Breayanna Johnson of
Forney, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Jenny and Mikiale Johnson; siblings, Debra Ann Johnson of Grand Prairie, Texas, Sharon Hill (Willie) of Lufkin, Texas; Patrick Johnson (Cheryl) of Desoto, Texas; sister-n-law, Essie Harris of Missouri City, Texas; brother-n-law, James Gilder of Corrigan, Texas; and 12 nieces and nephews. Special uncles, W.H. (Die) Johnson of Lufkin, Texas, and Vincent Johnson of Missouri City, Texas. He has eight uncles and aunts; Jerry McCoy of Dallas, Texas, Lonnie Johnson of San Augustine, Texas, CharlesJohnson of Humble, Texas, Ronnie Johnson of Houston, Texas, Doris Swindle and Minnie Edwards of San Augustine, Texas, Mae Lee Givens of Dallas, Texas and Angela Lewis of Missouri, City, Texas. A host of loving cousins, relatives and friends.
