Funeral services for DeVelle Trey Smith, 39 of Lufkin visitation will be held before service 10 a.m., till service. Service will be held on 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Mt. Calvery Baptist Church, 208 Calvery St, Lufkin. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Garden. Mr. Smith was born on August 8, 1984, in Lufkin and died Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in Lufkin.
The Life Journey
of DeVelle Trey Edmond Smith, a beloved son, brother, nephew, and friend was born on August 8th, 1984, in Lufkin, Texas to his loving parents Veronica R. Reece and Melvin E. Smith. He departed this world on May 7th, 2024, in the same city where he began his journey.
Trey's presence brought light and joy into the lives of all who knew him. His infectious laughter and warm smile could brighten even the darkest of days. He had an unwavering love for life that was evident in everything he did.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Trey is survived by his mother Veronica R. Reece; Father Melvin E. Smith; maternal grandmother Gladys Wheeler; paternal grandparents Melvin & Malinda Smith; aunts Donna Rhodes, Lena Rainey, Sharon Calhoun (Nette), as well as special aunt Tina Webber.
In addition to his immediate family members are special brothers DeCourtney Morgan and Jecorey Richard along with a special sister Willie Hartsfield - not forgetting countless beloved cousins, relatives, and friends whose lives were touched by Trey's gentle spirit.
His passing has left an indelible void in the hearts of those who loved him dearly, but it is through their memories that they find solace knowing that Trey's spirit will live on eternally within them.
Trey was known for his passion for music which he shared generously with everyone around him --singing from the heart around home - music flowed effortlessly from his soul.
While we mourn our loss today, we also celebrate the beautiful life lived by DeVelle Trey Edmond Smith. May his memory continue to inspire us all towards greater acts of kindness, understanding, forgiveness, peace, hope, and faith.
