Service for Dorcene Flemings, 48 of Lufkin will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Ms. Flemings was born on August 18,1975 in Lufkin, and died on Thursday, September 21, 2023, in Plano.
Ms. Dorcene Thomas Fleming, was born on August 18, 1985 to the parentage of Frances Lonnette Thomas and Theophilus James in Lufkin, Texas.
Dorcene had been employed as a Prison Guard for 15 years. She later had been employed by Rusk State Hospital where she remained until her passing on September 21, 2023. Dorcene was a hard worker and had done so her entire life acquiring many friends and co-workers. She had no children but raised with Dorcene was special sisters that her mother raised: Felicha Berry, Red Rock Shirley, Detra Berry and Erica.

Dorcene was preceded in death by: Grandparents, Jimmie Thomas, Sr., Emmett Davis, Sr., Doris Davis, Margie James; Uncles, Jimmie Thomas, Jr., Michael Thomas, David Thomas and Emmett Davis, Jr.; Aunts, Versanell James and Dorothy Williams.
