Services for Mrs. Doris Starks Durham, 78, of Lufkin will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday June 18, 2022, in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery, in Corrigan. Mrs. Durham was born on March 19,1944, in Lufkin, and died on Monday, June 13,2022, in Lufkin.
On March 19, 1944, Ms. Doris Jean Durham the 8th of 11 children was born to the late Surcy and Curlie Starks in Lufkin, Texas.
Ms. Doris accepted Christ early in life and attended the Peaceful Rest Baptist Church. She graduated from Dunbar high School in Lufkin, and later began her career in Healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, Texas, until her retirement.
Her livelihood consisted of cooking and baking for her children and grandchildren. She also like to play bingo and watch movies.
On Monday June 13, 2022, at the age of 78, Ms. Doris departed this life in Lufkin, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Surcy and Curlie Starks, Her siblings, Leslie, Joe, Billy Roy, Odessa, Dorothy, George and Everett.
