Graveside service for Eddie Ray Sowell,84, of Nacogdoches, is scheduled at 12 noon for Saturday, October 10, 2020, in the St. John Community Cemetery in San Augustine. Mr. Sowell was born on January 31, 1936, in Lufkin, and died on October 2, 2020, in Nacogdoches Texas.
Eddie Ray Sowell was born on January 31, 1936 in San Augustine, Texas to Ed McKinley and Corine Sowell.
At an early age the family moved to Lufkin where he attended the Lufkin Independent School District graduating with the Class of 1954 from Dunbar High School. His livelihood consisted of loving to talk on his CB Radio where he had become Worldwide known as "Camper Boy." He also loved to travel until his health failed him. Eddie Ray had been employed by Lufkin Industries from July 17,1962 until his retirement June 30, 1993.
On October 2, 2020, Eddie Ray Sowell peacefully and quietly departed this life at his home in Nacogdoches, Texas.
He is preceded in death by His parents Ed and Corine Sowell. Sister, Lottie Sowell
Survivors: Daughters: Courtney (Prince) Abercrombie, Angela (Truman) Smith all of Nacogdoches, Texas, Karen (Jessie) Wade of Lufkin, Texas; Sons, Wendell Sowell, Ronnie Sowell, Garland Sowell all of Lufkin, Texas, Darryl (Alicia) Swell of Flower Mound, Texas; Sisters, Pearlie Holley of Kent, Washington and Ann Lousie Gray of Spring, Texas; Brother, Roger Lee Sowell of Lufkin, Texas; Special aunt, Bennie Boykin of Kent, Washington; Twelve grandchildren; Six great-grandchildren; A wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
