The funeral service for Elbert Murphy Jr., 77, of Lufkin will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, 1519 William St., Lufkin, Texas. The burial will follow at Davis Memorial Gardens, Jackson Road, Lufkin, Texas.
Elbert Murphy, Jr. was born on August 1, 1947 In Lufkin, Texas, to the late Irma and Elbert Murphy Sr. He was the second born to that union.
He was reared in Keltys ,Texas where he resided on Penson Street. Elbert attended Dunbar High School, graduating with the Class of 1964. He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member ofthe Peaceful Rest Baptist Church. He had been employed by the Angelina Hardwood Mill in Keltys, Lufkin Foundries, Pilgrim Pride and Walmart.
Elbert was joined Holy Matrimony to Jettie Jackson Murphy for 25 years, and to that union 3 daughters and 1 son was born.
On June 23, 2025, Elbert Murphy, Jr. departed this earthly life in Lufkin, Texas, to enter his heavenly and eternal home.

Roy Murphy, Sr., Earl Murphy, Ronald Murphy, Sean Clay, Sr., Bonus Brother, Raul Guerro; Sister, Betty Jo Henderson; Significant special friend, Marilyn St. Julian; A wealth ofnephews, nieces, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
Elbert is preceded in death by: His parents, Elbert and Irma Murphy; Sister, Elva Joyce Yarbrough; Ex wife, Jettie Murphy; Children, Derrick Chatman Murphy, Lacetta Ross Murphy and a grandson: Detroit Benton; He is also preceded by a host of uncles, and aunts.
