Elmer Louis Mark's Obituary
Services for Elmer Louis (Pete) Mark, 76, of Nigton will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ligon Chapel C. M. E. Church in Nigton. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Mortuary. Offciating will be Pastor Jonathan Deason and Pastor Patrina Mitchell. The eulogist will be Pastor Tammy Mark-Brown of Mayo Baptist Ministries. Interment will follow in the Nigton Memorial Park in Nigton.
Visitation will be on Friday in the Colonial Mortuary Chapä from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Elmer L. Mark was born the fifth child to Luters and Clemmie Black-Mark, May 25, 1941. Mr. Mark, his parents and siblings were longtime citizens of De Ridder, Louisiana, He gave his life to Christ at an early age. Mr. Mark and his family llited with the Fellowship at the Mayo Baptist Church in Nigton, Texas. He was a Deacon at Mayo until his departure from earth.
Mr. Mark was a football, baseball, and track star during his high school years at Temple Sr. High School, Following high school, he became a member of the U.S. Army and discharged honorably. Mr. Mack was a member cfthe Nigtcn Masonic, the Nigton Negro Minor League Baseball Team,as well as the Texas foundry Minor League Baseball Team. He spent the last ofhis employment years with the Trinity County Precinct #4 Commissioners Offce. Mr. Mark was a hard worker and great humanitarian. He was a Little League, Dixie League and Pony League Coach for boy's baseball for Trinity County for over fifteen years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and supporting Apple Springs Eagles, Lufkin Panthers, and watching sports on television.
Mr. Mark fell in love with Loraine Spencer during high school years and married her August of 1964. To this great love affair, they were able to raise four oftheir children. Pete and Lo became the family ordained by God. They stood the test of time and didn't let the world transform them. Mr. Mark's health began to fail over the last five years. His love, Lo never left his side. She loved, prayed, and cared for him until he took his last breath holding her hand and looking into her eyes.
