.Funeral services for Mr. Emmett Ray Davis, Sr. of Lufkin are scheduled for Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 11 :00 a.m. in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in the Davis Memorial Gardens.
On August 30, 1951 Emmett Ray Davis, Sr. was born to the parentage of Ben and Annie B. Davis in Lufkin, Texas. He received his education from the Lufkin Independent School District. Later in life he met and married Doris Davis and were married for 38 years until her untimely demise. Emmett loved to sing the blues, dancing and spending quality time with family and friends. He had been employed by Contractor Supply until his health failed him.
On October 21, 2022, Emmett Ray, Davis, Sr., departed this life in Lufkin, Texas.
Survivors: His brothers, Billy, Jimmie, Jerry and Willie Earl Davis; Sisters, Mamie Doggett,
Dorothy Penson, Irene Cartwright and Shirley Davis; Daughters, Teena Thomas, Shonta James, Michelle Thomas; Sons, Edward (Sabrina) Thomas, Derrick (Donna) James; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; A wealth of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Ben and Annie B. Davis; wife, Doris Davis; Siblings, Jean and Henry; Daughter Frances; Sons, Emmett Jr, Demetrius, Michael and David.
