Ernestine Nichols' Obituary
The funeral service for Ms. Ernestine Nichols, 96, of Lufkin, will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Colonial Mortuary Chapel. The burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Garden. Ms. Nichols was born on May 25, 1928, in San Augustine, Texas, and died on October 26, 2024, in Lufkin, Texas
Mrs. Ernestine Davis-Nichols affectionately known as "Grandmama," to her grandchildren and others. She was known as "Mudea" to her four sons. Ernestine was born on May 25, 1928 in San Augustine, Texas, to the union of the late Lewis and Clara Davis.
She later moved to Lufkin, Texas, where she worked for an attorney for over twenty years. Grandmama was the Matriarch ofthe family and a true believer in Christ. She was a faithful member of Warren Temple True _Light Holiness Church in Lufkin, Texas, where she paid her tithes faithfully each month whether she was able to attend church or not. She loved listening to Gospel Music, watching church on television and doing Bible Word find puzzles. Her mind was sharp until her death. She was an excellent cook and loved to eat. She also didn't mind telling anyone that they were fat ifshe saw weight gain. She loved fishing when she was able to go, and would load up her grandchildren and take them with her. She will be greatly missed by all.
On October 26, 2024, Mrs. Ernestine Davis-Nichols departed this life in Lufkin, Texas.

Four sons, Alfred Roberts (Patricia), Levale Roberts (Brenda), Felton and Alvin Gleen; A sister, Althea Horn of Tyler, Texas; Eighteen grandchildren; Twenty great-grandchildren and founeen great-great-grandchildren; A wealth ofnieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her Church family.
Ernestine is preceded in death by: A daughter, Sarah Lois Davis; A brother, Mac Ernest Davis; Three sisters, Mary Lee Newton, Jennie V. Thompson, and Luther Davis-Scott.
