Evelyn Barnes' Obituary
Graveside service for Evelyn Jean Barnes also known as "Weetie", 66, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Saint Luke Cemetery,4042 FM 1277 in San Augustine Tx, with Pastor Dr. B.J.E. McQueen officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. On Sunday at St. Luke cemetery there wil be viewing from 10:00 a.m. till time of services.
Evelyn was born October 13, 1957, in Woodville Texas to the late Wilma Joy Berry and Robert Earl Berry, and died Tuesday., April 23, 2024, her home.
Evelyn resided in Chester Tx until she graduated from Chester High School in 1976. Evelyn went on to further her education at a technical college in Waco Tx, where she earned her Dental Assistant certification. After college Evelyn moved to Lufkin Tx where she worked as a Dental Assistant for over 40 years. Evelyn retired from the Lufkin State Supported Living Center in 2019 after 39 years of service.
Evelyn enjoyed being around family and friends, making flower arrangements, crocheting, completing puzzles, and watching crime shows.
She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile, eyes, and her 7up cakes.
Evelyn was married in 1982 to Michael Barnes Sr. She is survived by their two children.
daughter Latoya (Clarence) and son Michael Barnes Il (Juanita); Brothers, Ben Berry, Carlos (Jennifer) Berry, Curtis Berry Jr. (Shenekia); and sister, Wilma White; Sister and brother in laws: Tennie Mark, Patricia Blanks,
George Barnes Jr (Deborah) Lilly (Gary) Flenoy, Linda (Michael) McClain, Jeanette (Gil) Herndon, and Brenda Handford; Grandchildren, Jayla, Elijah, Clare, Evelyn "Brooke", Mikaelyn, Mikenzi, and Michael Ill "Trey"; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Curtis Berry Sr, and Waymon Berry.
