Floyd Woodson Jr.'s Obituary
Services for Floyd Woodson Jr. will be held March 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Greater Shiloh Baptist, 1519 Williams St., Lufkin, TX. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Mortuary. Viewing will be at the church beginning at 10:00 am. until time of services.
Floyd was the fifth child of thirteen born to the parentage of Floyd, Sr. and Laverne Woodson on October 15, 1945 in Nacogdoches County. He spent his early childhood days in Lufkin, TX where he grew up and resided at his passing.
Floyd enjoyed playing dominoes and was quite good at it. He was an avid hunter, storyteller and loved working in his garden until he was no longer able to. Mr. Woodson was a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan and a member of the Luf-Tex Trail Riders. His two beautiful granddaughters, Brandi and Bunk were the love of his life. Floyd joined the U.S. Army and served his country doing the Vietnam War.
He united with Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where his family served faithfully for many years.
He will be missed and memories will be cherished by his wife of 50 years, Earlene Woodson of Lufkin, TX; his daughter, Daphne Shepherd of Lufkin, TX; granddaughters, Brandi Shepherd of Houston, TX and Bianca “Bunk” Shepherd of Lufkin, TX; siblings, Frances Gipson, Clifford Ray Woodson, Helen Jean (Millard) Smith, Willie Lee McGowan, Imogene Tizzano, Vernon Lee Woodson, Sandra King and Doretha Woodson; life-long friends, Henry Mosley and Mary Frances Hubbard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Woodson, Sr., mother, Laverne Woodson and siblings, Eva Strange, Annie Green, Bobby Joe Woodson and Darnell Woodson.
