Freddie Ayres' Obituary
Service for Mr. Freddie Ayres, 82, of Lufkin will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the Church of God Culverhouse,613 Culverhouse St, Lufkin, Tx 75904. Visitation will be held Saturday before the service. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Garden. Mr. Ayres was born on June 30, 1940, in Lufkin and died on November 24,2022, in Lufkin.
Freddie Ayres, affectionately called "Dudy" was born on June 30, 1940, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to the parentage of the late, Leona Brown and Ike Ayres,
Freddie attended the Lufkin Public Schools and played football at Dunbar High School. His hobbies included track, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, hunting, fishing, singing, traveling with friends, and having conversations with everyone he met. He never met a stranger. He was an avid fan Washington Redskins. His favorite player was Kenneth Houston. His livelihood consisted of being a Beaver Scout Master with Post 508, in Lufkin, Texas. He was also affiliated with the Masonic Lodge, the Interdenominational Choir, and was a member and Deacon of the Church of the Living God CWFF, where he also proudly served as President of choir and the food pantry.
His employment consisted of several years at the Texas Foundry, Boles Food Market, and he retired from the City of Lufkin Parks and recreation. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

His sons, Strafford Grady (Cedric), Calvin Ayres (Susan), and Baron Ayres (Ceddrick); Nine grandchildren; A wealth of great-grandchildren; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Freddie is preceded in death by his parents, Leona Brown and Ike Ayres; the love of his life, Barbara Grady Ayres; two brothers and two sons, Kendall Kelly and Ronald Ayres.
