Service for George Yarbrough, 64, of Lufkin will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Wood Memorial Temple Church, at 230 Leech Street, Lufkin Texas 75904, Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mr. Yarbrough was born on February 26,1958 in Lufkin, died on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in Lufkin. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Mortuary.
Mr. George Earl Yarbrough Ill, was born on February 26, 1958, to the late Cenola and George Yarbrough Jr. He grew up in Lufkin, Texas and was a graduate of Lufkin High School, Class of 1976. He worked at Brookshire Brothers for many years, and then at Walmart for nine years until his health failed. He was known as the Texas Tornado, the guitar man, and was a member of the West End Church of God in Christ for many years. He was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of the late Supt. C.H. Jacobs. He touched many people, always greeted you with a smile, loved to talk a lot, and never met a stranger. He served under Apostle C.M. Mitchell of the Faith Fire Ministries Inc. and played for the Hour of Power Prayer Ministries for many years, under the leadership of Bishop James Coutee.
On November 9, 2022, Mr. George Yarbrough Ill departed this life in Lufkin, Texas.
He leaves a devoted wife of 13 years, Shelia Yarbrough; 3 daughters, Shemeka Montgomery,
Crystal Yarbrough and Kristan Yarbrough; Stepchildren, Warren Lewis and Shelisha Kalesia
Battee; Grandchildren, Asp ion Johnson, Aasta Cartwright, Jaquavian Whitaker and Wilbert Brice; 2 great-grandchildren, Miranda and Kobe Johnson; His siblings, 1 sister, Sandra (Doyle) Thomas; 3 brothers, Larry and Margaret Christopher, Willie Cartwright, and Pastor Carl Yarbrough, Sr.; Godson, Jeremiah Hunt; Mother-in-law, Lavell Myers (James Stewan) Lufkin, Texas; Brothers-in-law, David and Michelle, Elijah and John Elijah, Houston, Texas; Sisters-in-law, Janice and Clifford Levias, Lufkin, Texas, Quinn Dove, Lufkin, Texas and Latrell Myers of Houston, Texas; A host of nephews, nieces and numerous cousins.
Mr. Yarbrough was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, George Harold Christopher.
