Harry James Jolley's Obituary
Services for Harry Jolley, 69, will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Lake Creek Cemetery in Pennington, TX. Mr. Jolley was born November 2, 1949 in Houston, TX. and died October 12, 2019 in Lufkin, TX.
Harry James Jolley was the son of J.C. and Verna Mae Jolley. He was born on November 2, 1949.
Harry joined Mt. Herman Baptist Church at an early age. He attended school in the Kennard School System. He graduated from Kennard Westside High School in 1967. Harry furthered his education at Sam Houston State University, and Lufkin Secretarial Business School, and studied drafting. He worked as a Prison Guard at the Correctional Facility in Diboll for several years, and was later employed by Innovative Homes of Deep East Texas, and another Group Home until his health failed,
He met the love of his life while working at the Correctional Facility in Diboll, Elizabeth Webb who preceded him in death. He became "Poppy" to her children and grandchildren. He was a good person with a big heart and loved God, his family, his friends and his work. He put his life on hold when his mother became ill and was her Care Giver until she passed away. Harry was his Bother's Keeper, a great neighbor, and a friend to all who knew him. He had a unique sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Elizabeth Webb.
He leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Auttia Bryant of Malakoff; Two brothers, Leon (Curtistene) McCowan of Desoto, Winston (Lawanda) McCowan, Mt. Pleasant; Cousins, Donald (Ruth) Williams, El Paso, Carolyn Reynolds, Oliver (Alice) Reynolds, Houston; His best friends, Joyce Timmons aka Old Yellow (Kenneth),Sherleain Bridges aka (Double Dutch); God Daughter and her family, Cynthia Gordon Wilson (Tyrone); Children, Tyreke Wilson, Carroll Wilson, Malik Gordon, Tyrone Wilson Jr., Tamya Wilson, and My'Ona Wilson; Harry was Poppy to Karen Piece, Amanda Brancum, Shea Boyd, Skilur Cooper, Hunter Zylstra and Kylie Jones; Special uncle to Felicia Timmons-Brown, Kenneth Timmons Il, leshia Bridges-Smith. TraVon Wilson, Kenneth Timmons Ill, Joyion Timmons, Eli Alexander Smith, Danny (Angie) McCowan, Leon (Stephanie) McCowan, LaRisa (Antonio) Kelley, LaNetra (Marion) Fuller, Duce Perry, Winston (Lindsey) McGowan, Jr. and a host of other family members; Special friend, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Reeves, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Williams.
