The funeral service for Hattie Fowler, 75, of Lufkin, TX, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at West End Church of Christ, 2014 Cairo St, Lufkin, TX 75904. The burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Gardens, Jackson Road..
Sister Hattie Jean Fowler, was born on August 17, 1949, to the late Jo Willie Yarbrough-Handy, and Maurell Handy Sr., in Lufkin, Texas.
She spent her summers with her grandparents, the late Lloyd and Hattie Yarbrough.
She attended the Old Brandon Elementary School and Dunbar High School. After High School, she became a Certified Nurse Aid, and spent years caring for people at local Nursing Homes, and Woodland Heights Hospital.
Sister Fowler was an active member ofthe Women ' s Auxiliary ofWest End Church of God In Christ, and Texas Southeast Third Jurisdiction Church of God In Christ. She also served as Sunday School Secretary at West End Church of God In Christ. Her favorite hobbies were: cooking and offering hospitality to the community.
She also served faithfully with her special uncle and aunt for years in Corrigan,
Texas, at First Church of God In Christ. Pastor and uncle was the late Elder Guy Richards, Sr. and Mother Nancy Hartsfield-Richards. She also served under the late Elder Jerry Richards until his death, before placing her membership at West End Church of God In Christ, under Pastor Willie Spikes, Sr.
Sis. Fowler was preceded in death by: her loving husband of 50 years, Robert L. Fowler; Brothers, Odell Jr. and Willie Louis Carroway; Father, Maurell Handy, Stepmother, Elverta Handy and Stepdaughter, Ethel Fowler-Bolton.
Left to Cherish Her Memories: Son, Kenneth Mark Jr.; Stepson, Fred Fowler;
Godson, Henderson LeJerry Yarbrough; Daughter, Tiisha Mark; Stepdaughters, Dessia Fowler, Connie Ethridge and Fail Hutching; Special Sister, Missionary
Rosie Yarbrough; Grandchildren, Kai'Anthony Mark, Drelynn Mark, Justus Hadnot, Jayden Hyde, Danitee Chew and Majer Renfro; A host of step-grands, nephews, and cousins.
