Funeral service for Mr. Hollis Walton Jr,80, of Lufkin will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2021, in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Nigton Cemetery. Mr. Walton was born on July 7, 1941, in Lufkin and died on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at his residence. Hollis Ed Walton was born on July 7, 1941, in Lufkin, Texas to the late Hollis Edward Walton, Sr.
He was reared in Lufkin, Texas, where he attended the Lufkin Independent School District, graduating with the Class of 1960. Hollis was a member of the Dunbar High School Tigers and his Football Jersey No. Was #94. He was the left tackle alongside his longtime friends, Don Houston #93 and Daniel "DW" Scurlock, Jr. #95.
After graduation, he moved to Houston, Texas to attend Texas Southern University. Upon returning to Lufkin, Texas, Hollis was employed at the Lufkin Sawmill in 1963 and Texas Foundry in 1966. He was famous for collecting items, telling stories, jokes, and he enjoyed talking with his family and friends. Hollis had been married to Sandra Fowler, who became his estranged wife on April 1, 2021.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hollis E. Walton and Nannie Mae mark-Walton; A sister, Pastor Ethel Mae Mark; a Daughter, Wynedelia Walton; Life-long friends, Wilbert Brown and Daniel DW Scurlock, Jr.
Survivors: Children, Bridget (Rufus) Kirkwood, Lashone (Robert) Taylor, Da Mone (Katherine) Walton, De' Vagh Horn, Lavanya (Anthony) Jackson, Marlene (Time) Morton; Stepsons, Edmond Fowler, Joe Fowler; Grandsons, Eric Cole, Jerry Criner, Bryan Cole, Robert (Shambreka) Taylor, Jayjay Douglas, Cha-Zavier Horn, Karl-Derrien (Sharetta) Chatman and Samuel Walton; Grandchildren, Koya Douglas, La Chandra Taylor, Ti- Cyedre Horn, Khar-Teriyana Chatman, and Desandra Fowler, Chris Durham; High School Classmate and Teammate, Don Houston; Family friend, Willie "Sister" Davis and neighborhood friend, Doris Durham. A wealth of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
