Hwa Cha Scurlock's Obituary
It is our profound sorrow that Hwa Cha Scurlock, 82 passed away on Friday, March 5th, 2021. She spent her early years living in Korea. It was there where she met and married her husband, Claude Melton Scurlock I. They later relocated to Lufkin, Texas where she spent the remainder of her years. Mostly known for her tough love and frank conversations, she was also well known an excellent cook for those she loved. She had a remarkable gift for crocheting, needlework and sewing. Mommy, ma, umma, harmony, unni and Chung were amongst a few of the names she was called. She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years. She is survived by her daughters Yoon Kyung Hye, Delois Chung Scurlock, son Claude Melton Scurlock II, grandson Jackson Cole Scurlock and granddaughter Khali Chung Scurlock.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 13th at Colonial Mortuary at 2pm with funeral services to follow at 3pm in Lufkin, TX. Interment to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Lufkin, TX.
There will be limited seating with COVID precautions taken.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the American Heart Society in memory of Hwa Cha Scurlock.
