Rev. James Larue's Obituary
Services for Rev. James Larue, 80, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Scarbrough, Lufkin, TX. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Friday from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Mortuary. Rev. LaRue was born April 2, 1937 in Lufkin and died March 30, 2018 in Lufkin.
EDUCATION/EMPLOYMENT/LIVELIHOOD
He attended the Lufkin Public School District. James had been employed by Lufkin Industries retiring after forty five years of service. He was a life insurance salesman and worked at Lufkin Industries. James "Tulu" as he was affectionately called, in his younger days loved boxing and playing baseball.
RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION
Minister LaRue joined Mt. Beulah Baptist Church at and early age, and later became a Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon of the Church. On October 17, 1989 he was ordained into the Ministry and later joined the FirstMissionary Baptist Church. He loved the Lord. After his retirement from Lufkin Industries, he continued to proceed his calling in the Ministry to spread the gospel of Lord Jesus Christ. Minister LaRue was the last of his siblings.

His sons, Kenneth LaRue of Lufkin, Texas, Adolphus Hill of Berkley, California; Daughters, Linda (Steve) Coutee of San Diego, California, Marilyn (Jesse) Potts of Lufkin, Texas; Sister, Epsy Mae Teal; Aunt, Alean Ellis; Sixteen grandchildren; Seventeen great-grandchildren; Five great-great-grandchildren; A wealth of other relatives and friends.
PRECEDING HIM IN DEATH
His wife, Wyomia LaRue; Three grandchildren, Kenya Taylor, Desmond Lee and Francisa Booker.
