Services for Jean McGrew Nelson, 76,of Lufkin will be held Saturday August 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the
Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, 1519 Williams St. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Garden. Mrs. Nelson was born February 2, 1947 in Lufkin and died Wednesday, August 16, 2023 in Lufkin.
Mrs Jean Evelyn McGrew-Nelson was born February 2, 1947 in Lufkin TX to the late Neal and Katherine McGrew.
Jean attended Lufkin Independent School District and was a graduate of Dunbar High
School, Class of 1965 in Lufkin, TX. After graduating high school, she attended City College of San Francisco in San Francisco, California. She was employed by the City of Lufkin (Human Resource Dept.) from which she retired after 21 years.
Jean accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church since her childhood until her heavenly transition.
Jean loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy! In her leisure, she enjoyed shopping, making flower arrangements and corsages for enjoyment for friends and loved ones. Jean was a huge sports fan. She never missed watching "Her Rockets and Cowboys!"
On August 16, 2023, Mrs. Jean E. McGrew-Nelson departed this life and gained her heavenly wings.
