Jimmie Evans' Obituary
Funeral service for Mr. Jimmie Evans, 79 of Lufkin is scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 22, 2023, at First Missionary Baptist Church,410 Scarborough Street, Lufkin. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Jimmie Evans affectionately called (Bo), was born on November 19, 1944 in Rockland, Texas to the late Jim and Zelma Evans.
He gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined the Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dolphus. Jimmie received his formal education from Dunbar High School in Lufkin, later attending Prairie View A&M College where he ran track. He enjoyed life and spending quality time with his family. He also loved fishing, performing as a dj and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Jimmie served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. He also served in the National Guard for a number of years. He retired from Teamster in 2009 as a Truck Driver.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Zelma Evans; Four brothers, Alvin, J. Arthur, Rev. Henry Evans and Larry Evans.
Left to Cherish His Memories: His wife of 45 years, Linda Evans; Siblings, Mable Jackson, Alice Williams, Caroline Beard, Ezra C. Evans, Gwendolyn Davis (Clifford), Donis Evans (Tina), Earl Evans and Clarence Thompson (Joyce); His children, Tony (Debra), Jimmie Jr., La 'Tasha (Otis), Kenya, Zelma (Kenny), Kamesh (Roderick), Shenika (Terrence), Jimmie Ill, and William; 26 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; A host of nieces, and nephews.
