John Dupree's Obituary
Private Graveside Service for John Dupree, 69, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, April 11, 2020, in the Davis Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. till Noon, in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Mr. Dupree was born on July 11, 1950, in San Augustine Texas and died, April 2, 2020, in Lufkin Texas.
Mr. John Edward Dupree, was born on July I l, 1950 to the parentage of John and Mamie Dupree in San Augustine, Texas.
John affectionately called "Big John," attended the Broaddus Independent School District. As a young man, he started working in the woods logging. Later he started driving trucks and skitters. John worked up until the day he became ill. He lived with the slogan: "CAN'T STOP, WANT STOP, NO MATTER WHAT ATTITUDE." Big John moved to Lufkin where he met the love of his life, Margarite Dupree. They were united Holy Matrimony on March 10, 1982, the marriage lasting for twenty seven (27 years until her death in 2009. They both served faithful at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he was a Ordained Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and Head of the Finance Committee. John was dedicated to his service to the Lord until he went home to receive his reward. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone no matter where he was or who they were. John was a strong, loving and compassionate person who loved his family. He would not hesitate to let you have it, and tell you just what he thought when it came down to it.
On April 2, 2020, John Edward Dupree departed this life in Lufkin, Texas.

Survivors: Children, Chester Lewis, Houston, LaShawna Poole (Randall) Alto, Willie Lewis (Shameka) Lufkin, Ja'Varion Williams, Dallas; Siblings, Oskarine Kegler Lufkin, Margie Smallwood; Brother-in-law, R.C. Roberts Wells; Grandchildren, Dunta'Vyan, KiChuana, Kiara, Nickayla, Randall Jr., Sha'Kay, De'Edrick; Great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Ja'Siah, Kamyrn, Kovani, Braiden. Big John was loved by so many and leaves a wealth of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and special friends to also cherish his memories.
