Funeral services for Joseph Loyd,66 of Lufkin will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 28,2021, in the Church of the Living God, 613 Culverhouse St, Lufkin, Texas 75904. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, from 5 p.m., till 7 p.m., Mr. Loyd was born on January 1, 1955, in Crosby, TX. and died on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, in Lufkin.
On January 1, 1955, in Corsby (Barret Station), Texas, a son was bom to Johnny and Teresa Loyd. They named him Joseph Jerome Loyd.
He was the fourth child born to this union. Joseph accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jones. During this lifetime, Joseph worked for Champion, Brown and Root, Louisiana Pacific, and Corrigan Independent School District. In his spare time, he was an avid carpenter, automobile body mechanic, barber and all around handy man. If it needed repairing or building, Joseph could get the job done. While in High School, he was a well rounded sportsman. 1--1e excelled in football, basketball, and track. He was a graduate of Corrigan High School Class of 1974.
On August 17, 2021, Joseph Jerome Loyd Sr. departed this life in Lufkin, Texas.

Tamara (Desoto), Jeremy Loyd Sr. and wife Anetrice of Lufkin, Texas; His Siblings, Charles Davenport, Pearlie Ann Moses, Barbara Wilmore (Donnie Crump), and Patricia Johnson; Grandchildren, Treyu Dove, Joseph Loyd Ill, Takaira Scott, LaDaijah Gilmore, Jeremy Loyd Jr., Kevin Moore Jr., Lanetrice Loyd, Ariana Loyd; Aunt, Ruby Lee Thomas.
He is preceded in death by: Parents, Johnny and Teresa Loyd; Sister, Doria McCloud, Paternal grandparents, John Loyd, Eunice Semien, Arthur and Alma Presley.
