Mrs. Joyce Marie Bray, 81 of Diboll is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023, First Shiloh Baptist Church, 100 Pine St., Diboll Tx., Friday, June 2, 2023, visitation will be at First Shiloh Baptist Church, Diboll from 5 p.m., till 7 p.m., Burial will follow in Forest Haven Cemetery, Diboll.
Joyce Marie Bray, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many, departed this life to be with the Lord on May 25, 2023.
She was born in Westville, Texas to Melvin and Julia Phipps. Joyce was one of eleven children raised and reared in Diboll, Texas, in a Christian Home. She accepted Jesus as her Savior at an early age. Joyce was a faithful member of First Shiloh Missionary Baptist, Church Diboll, Texas, where she taught Sunday School, and Vacation bible School. She also served as an Usher and was part of the Kitchen Staff. She attended school in Diboll graduating from H.G. Temple High School, Class of 1958. After working at Temple Inland for 30 plus years, she retired in 2003. Joyce's home was the welcoming home to all those who knew and loved her. She had a passion for cooking and loved her family more than anything. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Julia Phipps; Son, James Allen Bray Jr : Brothers, Kelvin, Harold and James; Sisters, Louis, Alice Faye and her twin (deceased at birth), great granddaughter, Raegan Nicole; A niece, Ursula and nephew, Miguel.
Survivors: Daughters, Charlotte Bray, Paula Bray-Bryant; Son, Keith Phipps; Grandchildren, Brandon Bray (Jasmin), Edward Williams IV (Jessica), Zibora Gilder, NeKeba Lee, Antonio Bray (Brittany), Cheniece Bray, Ke'Undra Bray and Ja'Keveia Bray; Great-grandchildren, Jaya, London Marie, Mason, Madison, Ivy Marie, Kai'Sun, Kayla, Ja'Siya, Yazmine, Dontrell, and Dmorea; Brothers, Larry Phipps (Patricia) and Wayne Phipps; Sister, Earline Vinson; Great Aunt, Rita Womack; Sisters-in-law, Mable Phipps, Ada Mark and Willie Mae Punch Diane Phipps; Special Godson, Robert (Rabbit James) Shields; Special Grandson, Travis Lacox (Tracy); Those she loved to call her daughters, Angela Gordon, Eva (Polly Anne) McLean, Benita Duffield, Patrina Mitchell and Paula Sheffield.
