Larry Joe Jackson Sr.'s Obituary
Funeral services for Rev. Larry Jackson Sr.73, of Lufkin, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2021, in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Garden. Mr. Jackson died on Friday, March 12, 2021, in Lufkin.
Reverend Larry Joe Jackson Sr., was the third child and second boy born to the parentage of Phillip and Betty Jackson on July 18, 1947, in Lufkin, Texas.
Larry was born and raised in Lufkin, Texas, where he received his formal education from the Lufkin Independent School District. He was a faithful member of Memorial Chapel CME Church in the Cedar Grove Community, where he served as a Choir member, on the Steward Board, and in the Sunday School Department.
He served a term of duty in the Military during the Vietnam War. Larry received his calling to the Ministry under the leadership of Reverend. Katherine Chachere and was faithful to his calling and to the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church until he was called Home. He had been employed by Texas Foundry for several years and later became a truck driver for over forty years. His livelihood included fishing, gardening, and an all-around Handy Man.

His wife, Helen Martin Jackson of Nacogdoches, Texas; Children, Harvey (Tametria) Jackson, Telika (Derrick) Roberson all of Nacogdoches, Texas; Adopted Son, Edward (Jennifer) Martin of Nacogdoches, Texas; Grandchildren, Kamesha Jackson, Harvey Jackson Jr., Tatum Jackson, Quillen McQueen, Desmond Jackson, Carmey Jackson, Shaquillia McQueen and ShaQuinya McQueen; A wealth of great-grandchildren; Siblings, Cerese Jackson, Sharren (Rev. Richard) Edwards, Brent Jackson all of Lufkin, Texas and Jamar Jackson of Houston, Texas; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Betty Jackson; son, Larry Jackson, Jr.; siblings, Charles Jackson, Saundra Ligones, Jettie Murphy, Phillip Jackson Jr., and Regina Oliver.
