Services for Lonnie Cockrell, 74, of Lufkin will beheld Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 12:00 in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Mr. Cockrell
was born August 18, 1944 in Selma, Alabama and died August 23, 2018 in Lufkin, TX. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lawrence "Lonnie" Cockrell was born on August 18, 1944 in Minter, Alabama to the late Fleeter and Rufus Cockrell.
He was raised in Selma, Alabama. As a young man, he left Selma and moved to Texas. found work at the Texas Foundries where he was employed most of his life. Later in his life, he also worked for Sodexo at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital. His most recent job was with Wal-Mart. He always had a strong work ethic and a tremendous heart for his family and his friends. His smiles and laughter will be missed.
On August 23, 2018, life came to a close for Lonnie Cockrell.
Survivors: His wife of 50 years, Betty Cockrell of Livingston, Texas; Daughters: Kelli Cockrell of Corrigan, Texas and Angela Cockrell of Huntsville, Texas; Sons: Andrew (wife, Kali) Cockrell of Livingston, Texas, Lonnie (wife, Yeshaw) Cockrell Jr. of Atascocita, Texas, and Troy Cockrell oi Conroe, Texas. Grandchildren: Damien Cockrell, Sydney Cockrell, Paris Cockrell, and Brandon Johnson. A wealth of nieces, nephews, and other relatives
