The funeral service for Leroy ( Johnnie) Diamond,76, of Lufkin will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 14, 2021, in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Garden. Mr. Diamond was born May 11, 1944, in Lufkin, and died on Friday, May 7, 2021, in Lufkin.
On this day we celebrate the Homegoing of Leroy Diamond (Johnnie), who entered eternal rest on May 7, 2021, at the age of seventy-six (76).
Leroy Diamond was born on May 11, 1944, to John Diamond and Vera McDaniel Diamond in Nacogdoches County, Texas in 1945, Vera Diamond divorced Mr. Diamond and married Virgil Ross. They moved to Lufkin, Texas in 1947. The union of Virgil and Vera produced seven children: Detroy, Henry, Danny, Alvin, Billie, Barbara, and Larry.
Johnnie attended Brandon Elementary School and was a graduate of Dunbar High School Class of 1963. He had been employed at Texas Foundry and other various jobs in Lufkin and Houston, Texas. He spent the majority of his life in Lufkin, Texas. He loved to entertain visiting family members and friends throughout the community. Leroy was a member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
Left To Cherish His Memories: His children by Annie (Faye) Roberts Diamond (Deceased), Regina Diamond Hicks (Pastor Terrance Hicks), Leroy Diamond, Jr., Demetria Diamond Holcombe (Tyrone); Sons, Patrick and Johnathan McNeal and daughter, Donya Carter; A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
