Funeral services for Lucille Butler,91, of Lufkin will be held at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel Friday March 26, 2021. Burial will in the Davis Memorial Garden. Mrs. Butler was born on March 18, 1930, in Lufkin, and died on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, in Lufkin.
Ms. Lucille Butler was born March 18, 1930 to the late Charlie and Jessie Wortham in Pennington, Texas. She was raised in Pennington, Texas and after relocating to Lufkin, Texas she met the love of her life, Eugene Butler and they were united in Holy Matrimony on June 5, 1959. She was a seamstress at Browders Dress Shop for several years and she was also famously known around East Texas for her delicious hot tamales. Ms. Butler loved her family dearly and always made time for everyone — showing her love and support. She persevered and was resilient during the past few years of her illness and she passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
Preceding her in death: her parents, Charlie and Jessie Wortham, sisters Charlene Lee and Leora Holley, brothers, Charlie B. Wortham, L.C. Wortham, and Herman Lee; daughters, Jacqueline Butler and Vera Nelson Blake.
