.Luther Fowler, was born on November 13, 1950, in Wiergate, Texas, to the late Freddie Ben and Corine Fowler.
He graduated from Wiergate High School, where he played football and the clarinet in the band. He also received his auto mechanic license from a Technical College in Houston, Texas. Luther had been employed with Southland Paper Mill for 29 years, and Lufkin Industries from which he retired after 10 years. After retirement, he worked for five years for the City of Lufkin until his death. He was a faithful Memorial Chapel CME Church member, serving as chairman of the Trustee Board, Usher President, Member of the Steward Board, and Senior Choir. He was determined to live his life to the fullest, and he did just that. He loved a good cigar, detailing his vehicles, vacationing with his family, grilling and barbequing, frying fish for the family reunion, and spoiling his two granddaughters.
