Mable Jackson's Obituary
The funeral service for Mable Jackson, 85 of Lufkin, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1619 Williams St, Lufkin. The burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Gardens.Mable Wyatt Jones-Jackson was born on January 21, 1940 to the parentage ofthe late Zelma Ross and Jessie Wyatt.
She became a member ofGreater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the late Reverend Dolphus. Mable owned a business in her younger days, and was a Team Truck Driver. She also retired from the State of Texas as a employee of the Lufkin Independent School District. Mable was a loving older sister to her twelve siblings, and helped to raise them and loved them all. She married Willie B. Jones and this union gifted her with a wonderful stepson, Reverend Eugene Jones Sr. Her second marriage to Richard Jackson did not yield any children. Life also afforded her with a young lady to mentor as a daughter named Rita Butler. No one could say (Mawh) like Rita. Our mom Zelma Evans was once the Team Leader in the Hospitality Department. So when mom retired, Mable stepped right in serving in the Hospitality Department until her disability no longer allowed her to participate.
On April l, 2025, Mable Wyatt Jones-Jackson made her transition from her earthly home to her eternal home.
Mable is survived by one daughter-in-law, Darlene Jones ofHouston, Texas; Three sisters, Jimmie (Alice) Williams of Lufkin, Texas, Caroline of Lufkin, Texas, Gwendolyn (Clifford) of Dallas, Texas; Three brothers, Clarence Thompson (Joyce) of Lufkin, Texas, Donis (Tina) of Beaumont, Texas, Earl Evans of Leesville, Louisiana; A host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mable is preceded in death by: Her parents, Jessie Wyatt and Zelma Evans; Six brothers, Jimmie Evans, Ezra (Cow) Evans, Reverend Henry Evans, J. Arthur Wofford, Jr., Alvin Wofford and Larry Evans.
