Service for Marilyn J. Potts 65, of Lufkin is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Scarborough St, Lufkin. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Gardens . Mrs. Potts was born on September 25, 1957, in Lufkin , and died on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in Houston, TX.
Marilyn Jean attended Lufkin Public School District. She joined Mt. Beulah Baptist Church at an early age, where she sang in the choir and played the piano. She loved God and had the kind of faith that was steadfast. She moved to Houston, Texas as a young adult in search ofopportunities. There she met her husband,.Jesse Potts, and had three beautiful children. She always expressed her love by helping others. Cooking was one of her favorite hobbies. Her famous tea cakes were a family favorite. She also loved music. One of her favorite songs was Wild Flower by New Birth. She was loving, humble, compassionate, understanding, family-orientated woman and one of the most beautiful souls one could ever meet. Her charismatic smile could bring sun rays to a rainstorm.
