Mattie Lynch's Obituary
Funeral services for Mattie Lynch, 85, of Lufkin will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 16, 2021, in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Lynch was born on February 2, 1936, in Lufkin, and died on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, in Lufkin.
Mattie Ola Holmes-Lynch was born on February 2, 1936, in Minden, Louisiana to the parentage of the late James and Ethel Holmes.
She received her formal education from the Minden School District and Grambling University, where she met her husband "the love of her life," Norman Lynch. Norman and Mattie relocated to Lufkin, Texas in the 1950s. She had been employed at Memorial Hospital for over forty (40) years. Mattie gave her life to Christ at an early age, and was a faithful member of Long Chapel CME Church, for over fifty (50) years. She was an active member of the choir and mission until her health began to fail.
Mattie is preceded in death by Her parents, James, and Ethel Holmes; Siblings: Henry Holmes, Lenora Patton, and Zeola Huitt; Her husband, Norman Lynch; children, Wanda Lynch and Keith Lynch.
She Leaves to Cherish Her Memories: Her children, Debra (Jeff) Livings of Stafford, Texas, Tyron Lynch of Houston, Texas, Norma (Fredrick) Bagley of Lufkin, Texas; Granddaughter that she raised as her daughter: Latonya Lynch of Lufkin, Texas; Her grandchildren: Tichina Lynch of Corpus Christi, Texas, John Lewis of Houston, Texas, Tiera (Chris) Ben of Houston, Texas, Javonne Livings of Stafford, Texas, Randall (Jiana) Bagley of Houston, Texas; Great-grandchildren: Myles Owens, Tyron Owens, Tykiece Bagley, Marcus Broussard, Journee Ben, and Chris Ben.: Sisters-in-law, Jessie Lynch, Opal Lynch, Thelma Watts of Houston, Texas, Margie (Billy) Gardner of Lufkin, Texas and Mildred Salter of Lufkin, Texas; Special Nieces: Patricia Erwin of Lufkin, Texas and Patsy Gaston of Grambling, Louisiana; Special friends: Linda McGowen and Essie Burton; A host of nieces, nephews.
